Account suspension
Account suspension is a block on a whole Merchant Center account that stops all its products from showing, unlike the rejection of individual products.
How it works
Merchant Center checks the business as well as each product. A problem with the business as a whole is an account issue, and it can affect every product in the account at once. Some account issues prevent all products from showing, while others only limit their visibility.
Google’s example of a suspended account lists an unconfirmed online store, a landing page that does not work, an unverified phone number and a missing business address. Breaking the Shopping ads and free listings policies can also end in suspension.
Once the cause is fixed, the account issue can offer a Request review action. Google’s example notice says a review can take a few days to complete. A separate guide shows how to tell apart four look-alike account issues.
A suspended Google Ads account is a separate block: the ad account cannot serve any ads, and only Google support can reactivate it. Google Ads account suspended explains what a store does first.
Not to be confused with
- Disapproved products — an item-level issue: Merchant Center rejects that product, not the whole account.
- Misrepresentation — one of Google’s policies and a possible reason for a suspension, not the suspension itself.
Right and wrong readings
- Wrong: “All our products vanished at once, so the feed is broken.” Right: when every product stops showing at once, read the account issues first. They act on the whole account, while feed errors are tied to individual products.
- Wrong: “Suspended means misrepresentation.” Right: the same picture, with no products showing, can come from different issues, each with its own fix. Read the exact issue before changing the site or the feed.
