Needs attention (Merchant Center)

Needs attention is the Merchant Center tab, formerly called Diagnostics, that lists the products with issues to fix.

How it works

Merchant Center checks every product against its data requirements and policies. A product issue is a warning or a disapproval. With a warning, the product keeps showing but may perform worse and can later be disapproved. A disapproved product stops showing until fixed.

The tab lists every product with an issue. Account-level issues affect all products and appear in a banner and under “View setup and policy issues”.

Where available, turning on the “Prioritized fixes” toggle limits the tab to issues likely to have a medium or high impact on performance and potential clicks. Each issue has an Issue Details Page with its business impact, such as lost click potential, and a list of affected products to download. The Merchant Center feed audit covers which issues to fix first.

Where you see it

  • Merchant Center: Products & store → Products → Needs attention.

Example

Example store, not client data.

The tableware shop has 3,000 products. The tab lists 360: 300 with warnings and 60 disapproved. Share of the catalogue on the list = 360 ÷ 3,000 = 12.0%. Disapproved share = 60 ÷ 3,000 = 2.0%.

How GetProfit reads it

Approval is the heaviest of the nine fields in the feed score: 22 points of 100. The portal treats 95% or more approved products as healthy, 85–95% as a warning and under 85% as an error. A disapproved share of 3% or more is a warning; 10% or more is critical. The feed screen shows the approved share.

Not to be confused with

  • Disapproved products — one status on the list. Products with warnings are listed too, and they still show.
  • Account suspension — a block on all products at once. It shows as an account issue, not as products on the list.

Right and wrong readings

  • Wrong: “12% of our catalogue is out of the ads.” Right: only the 60 disapproved products, 2.0%, stopped showing. The 300 with warnings still show, possibly with limited performance.
  • Wrong: “Prioritized fixes shows nothing, so the feed is clean.” Right: the toggle hides issues with little or no impact. Turn it off to see them all.
