Growth stage
A growth stage is one of four bands, A to D, into which GetProfit sorts online stores by the revenue their product ads in Google Ads bring in a typical month.
How it works
The stage depends on one number: the revenue a store’s product ads bring in a typical month, converted to US dollars at fixed rates. There are four stages: A, under $2,000 a month; B, $2,000–10,000; C, $10,000–30,000; D, $30,000 and more. In GetProfit data on 114 stores (June 2025 – June 2026), 22 were at stage A, 62 at B, 20 at C and 10 at D.
What changes from stage to stage is how much data the ads learn from. The median store at stage A got 41 conversions a month from its product ads, at B 117, at C 411 and at D 658. Fewer conversions leave room for fewer campaigns, so the campaign structure a store can carry depends on conversions more than on revenue.
Crossing into stage C is rare. In GetProfit data on 95 stores, 70 brought in less than $10,000 a month in June–August 2025, and 3 of them were above that line by April–June 2026. What each stage changes in the ad account is covered in ecommerce growth stages.
Example
Example store, not client data.
The tableware shop gets 180,000 a month in revenue from its product ads. Say its currency is the Czech koruna. Our data uses 21.9 korunas to the dollar, so that is 180,000 ÷ 21.9 = $8,219 a month: stage B. Its 300 orders a month sit between the stage B median of 117 conversions and the stage C median of 411.
Not to be confused with
- Shelf form — how a store’s range behaves in ads: as a warehouse or as a showcase. It is a separate axis: both forms occur at every stage.
Right and wrong readings
- Wrong: “We have reached stage C, so it is time to split the account into many campaigns.” Right: the split follows conversions, not revenue. The portal’s working rule is to split a campaign only when it gets more than 100 conversions a month or when groups of products inside it differ in ROAS by more than 50%. Even then, both parts should keep at least 30 conversions a month. A store with expensive products can reach stage C on fewer conversions than a stage B store.
